swept into the past... yet... Sometimes, do you get the feeling that you are being swept into the past? All of a sudden, you're living in yester-year. You can run, but you can't hide. All the things that you thought you've been free from, suddenly just grips unto you with chains that bind you down. You can't breathe. You can't move. You can't flee. You aren't as free as you thought you have been all along... you aren't truly free from your past. But you know what? Phillipians 3:13b-14 says: "But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, I press on toward to win the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Ahhh, what words. It doesnt say 'run away from the past', neither does it say 'forget it and leave it as that'. It says 'forget the past and press onwards to the prize'. Press onwards to the prize that lies ahead in Christ Jesus. Onwards to Christ Jesus. Jesus. He is who we place our hopes and our aspirations in. He, whom we trust as our Lord, our God. Yes, the past may come and sweep us right into it, yet, if we look towards our goal, and dun let go, slowly, but surely, the chains that seek to hold us down will fall free. Persevere in trust, in obedience, and pursue the way out - the only exit. Have you been swept into the past, your past which you wish to forget? Look towards your goal and press onwards, forwards, christian soldier! "It is God who arms me in strength and makes my way perfect" - 2 Samuel 22:33 |
