letting go

Letting go is one of the hardest thing to do in this world.

I have always had trouble doing so, and found myself in this plight yet again, this morning. I was reminiscing the past, regretting things said and done, and trying to fit it, like 2 mismatching jigsaw pieces, into new developments from the present and for the future. 'Dream scenarios' whisked past my imagination on how things should have been and would be now. I was desperately trying to wash out the reality of history, but all was in vain.

Just as I was about to launch into another wave of despair, I looked at my messy desk, and something seemed to gleam into my dark and narrow view of my world - my birthday present from a precious friend, "Simple Living for Busy People" by Inspirio. I had only read one chapter (they are really short - suits the title) since I got it, and for some strange reason, I felt the urge to read the 2nd chapter.

I opened it with hopefulnes, and viola, the title read "Let it go".

It went on to explain in brief and simple terms, how we should let go of things, and forgive each other. Yes, I was looking for an answer, but I didn't see my current thoughts as a situation where i needed to forgive anyone, because I was only angry with myself...

It was then, that I realised how impudent my thoughts have been, for I needed to forgive myself, and truly let it go! What a revelation that was! The moment I realised that, I felt the shackles from my past fall through with a great thud, and my heart was set free to delight in the Lord and praise Him for the future half of my jigsaw piece which I really treasure!

"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you" - author unknown

Amazing grace,
How sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost,
But now am found,
Was blind but now I see.

Don't get bogged down by the past, for it will only seek to pull you away from God. Instead lift up your eyes to Him, and pray for the strength to let it go...

"My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare." psalm 25:15
