the Father's love

I came across a youtube video in my friend's blog yesterday, and when I clicked on it, I heard the song "I can only imagine" by mercy me, and thought, this song is really familiar, and spent the rest of the video thinking about the song and where i've heard it before. Today however, as I came across that video again, I sat and concentrated on the clip, and realised that it was of a father, Dick Hoyt, who took part in marathons and triathalons with his disabled son Rick, and how they managed to accomplish so much together. Full story here if you want a read.

I must have watched the video at least 5 times today (and counting), and each time I watch the part where the Father pulled his son Rick, out of the little paddle boat thing unto land and carried him in his arms and ran towards their bike admidst the cheering crowd, I feel tears welling up in my eyes and goosebumps down my arms. It tells so strongly of one Father's love, that he is willing to do anything to make his son feel so much better about the world.

I can't help but think, so honestly, this Christmas season, that that is just like our Father in heaven. How He so willingly sent His only son down to earth, just to pick up the pieces of us, even at our worsts when we are unable to walk or move. He came and reached out to us, as a little child. It speaks so much of the Father's love, for each and everyone of us.

This Christmas, I wonder what touches you most about it. Sometimes the magic of Christmas, isn't in how people have made it nice, or whether someone made you a special meal. but sometimes, the magic of Christmas is in your heart, when you come to realise the reason we are celebrating, is because of the Father's love. Let us come and worship Him.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given" - Isaiah 9:6a
