your worth I read this on someone's blog ;) who read if off someone else's blog. I'm not chain blogging! but I remember this story from an email before, and thought it would be nice sharing it here! enjoy! For the people who are double reading this... read it again! you will always find new meaning even in the same old story, like we do in the story of Christ our Lord. God bless! Twenty Dollars A well known speaker started of his seminar by holding up a $20 bill.In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still hands were up in the air. "Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air. "My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It is still worth $20." Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value in God's eyes. To Him, dirty of clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to Him. Psalm 178 says that God will keep us "as the apple of His eye." Thought: The worth of our lives come not in what we do or who we are but by whose we are! You are special - Don't ever forget it! --- It reminds me a little of a time when a friend of mine was on a long tube ride on the underground. right opposite him under those flip up seats, was this crumpled piece of paper, all scrunched up and kicked into the corner. After a few stops of looking around and staring at it, the paper started to look more than just a piece of paper - it looked like a 5 pound note!!! He stared at it for a few more stops and realised that no one had noticed it at all, not even the people beside him. Curious, he waited another stop or 2 before he mustered up the courage to walk over to pick it up, thinking it was probably torn seeing its dilapidated state. He proceeded to flatten it out and as he unveiled it, it truly was a full value, perfect piece of 5 pound note, which was all but crumpled! What a find for poor students like us! Oh how that note must have felt, that even in the direst state, someone had noticed it and picked it up and appreciated the value in it. Whatever you are facing, however bad you feel you have crumbled, God still sees your value, and that you're His very precious child. So never lose heart in God. You are worth more than twenty dollars or 5 pounds in His eye. "So don't be afraid; for you are worth more than many sparrows." - Matthew 10:31 |
